We are having some dissagreement with a customer over
tolerancing a whole depth callout on their drawing.
It's an enlarged pinion, 24 d.p.,25 deg. p.a., 21 teeth.
The drawing lists only the standard whole depth of .09367
(no tolerance range) and does not callout a minor diameter.
They are saying that because the outside dia. tolerance
is .005, the tolerance on the whole depth is .09367 +/- .002.
We contend that the given standard whole depth is ref. only.
Does anybody know of any standards that speak to whole depth?
I have been unable to find anything that gives a method
to determine a tolerance on whole depth.I would greatly
appreciate your input. Thanks....
