Looks like the gear shop found the problem - Cradle Roll Change Gears. He changed then to get a larger "Total" and notch went away.

Is the (minimum) Cradle Roll total supposed to be larger that the work Test Roll? It seems there is a procedure in the Operators Manual, so maybe the operator looks at something on the summary, then goes to the Roll of Cradle change gear table and changes the two gear set if necessary. What is he looking at on the summary? Work Test Roll? How does Ratio of Roll play into this?

There is a chart inside change gear cabinet on the door. It is a 3-column table of change gear sets with a "Total" given for each ratio.
At bottom of the chart it says:

"Roll is even each side of centerline for Pinions.
For Gears centerline is offset.
See Operation Instructions."

If anyone needs the Roll of Cradle chart, the gear shop sent me a photo and I will post it here if anyone is interested.
