There are different charts for K (circular thickness factor) which are for different classes of bevel gears (straight, spiral, zerol, etc). You can Google the charts and matching formulas using K, but I could find no complete formula for calculating K.
I ran into this when programming software for bevel summaries, and had to create tables that are interpolated to arrive at a K value. These interpolation and tables also depend on the class of gear. I'd like to think that my use of tables in the software yield results as good as a visual interpolation arrived at from a paper chart.
One source made the following comment below one of the charts when the question would naturally arise about a complete formula:
"The calculations of circular thickness of a Gleason spiral bevel gear are so complicated
that we do not intend to go further in this presentation."
