One thing I like about working with gears is that you always get puzzles. Unfortunately, most of the times you find out somebody has made a mistake.
A subcontractor was cutting a gear according to my specs. He called me and told me, that the specs are bad, because the span measurement does not match. I checked everything and found no error. It turned out there was a change gear in machine that was labeled wrong and they cut wrong number of teeth on the gear.
