As my understanding, when span measuring, two face of gauge are contacted with two straight lines on tooth curve face. It will be steady.
And when you changing place of measuring, the tangent line rotating on base cylinder, the reading will be the same.If problem happens, that is the reason of manufacturing.
Is my understanding right?
