Hob and shaper need their root blade to be predesigned for gear tip chamfer. The chamfer differs as the tooth thickness. We get he smallest chamfer when the thickest tooth. When the drawing shows chamfer, like ha x hc=0.4 x 0.3, that means the smallest, the middle or the maximum chamfer? And what does 0.4 and 0.3 mean?
From intersection of chamfer face and tooth profile to tooth top radially for 0.4? And from intersection of chamfer face and tooth top to intersection of tooth top and tooth profile for 0.3?
