It is 2010. I am tooo late. You have mentioned an answer at you in spiral angle. Why it is 36? Spiral angle is as per your wish. If the application is tractor, then your spiral angle on gear should be less. In both Oerlikon & Gleason there are various cutting systems, e.g in Oerlikon HN,Spiroflex,Spirac etc. It depends rather how you choose the inputs,machine and material while designing. If you have SKM2 machine then go for Oerlikon HN2 programe with 30 degree spital & 22.5 degree pressure angle. What was the whole depth on Gleason set. Check it at centre & ensure the same with HN2 output. Try to get stronger pinion teeth if previous failure is on pinion. (It is very tricky to develope a spiral bevel pair)
