need help in cutting special shapes

Anybody that can help me with a book in regarding cutting special shapes....hobbing and shaping.Doesn't matter what shape. Squares, rachets or anything that is interesting.I have alot of time on my hands and want to experiment with cutting shapes other than gear teeth lol.
