As well known, over 90% of all power gear trains have only one main direction for torque transmission. Asymmetric gears have the teeth with different pressure angles on their flanks and aimed to improve a performance in one direction. For a number of years now I have been involved in the R&D and design of involute gearing including asymmetric tooth profiles. Outside of my own experience, I have been unsuccessful in finding pertinent references about asymmetric gearing. In the spirit of gaining more knowledge about this very promising gearing approach, I would appreciate any references others might have concerning actual design and use of these gears. I would also like to discuss this technology with others interested in the concept.
Sincerely,
