I have also "double checked" my protractor reading by putting the gear on an arbor in my G&E Hobber , indicate the O.D. , install the lead train gears for the believed helix angle and ran a last word indicator up and down the pitch line of the tooth ( rapid traverse ). *note* you must have the correct index gears for # of teeth on machine as well. It should read "0" from top to bottom.
